Was the Movie Uncut or Cut?

I was up late doing some work from home with Comedy Central playing in the background. The movie Office Space was about to begin, but first they felt the need to air the following disclaimer:

A title card from Comedy Central warning that the upcoming program is for mature audiences only.

Immediately after that disclaimer faded from the screen, the following appeared:

A title card from Comedy Central warning that the upcoming film has been modified to fit this screen.

Now, I realize what they mean by cut vs uncut, but I find it funny that the process of modifying the original version of the movie to fit this screen involves cutting off parts of the original movie.

Another thing: How do they know how big "this screen" is so that they can format it correctly? "This screen" or "your screen" were okay ways to put it when all TV's had a ratio of 4 to 3, but now that there are 16 to 9 high definition screens, you'd think they could rephrase it. Besides, how do they know that my screen is 27" diagonal? Maybe I could really confuse them by attaching a splitter to the cable box output and route the signal to multiple televisions with various sizes and ratios. Bwah-ha-ha-ha-ha!
