Some time ago I was having dinner with my family at a buffet-style restaurant in Ogden, Utah. While looking over the dessert selection, I noticed (thanks to ambient back lighting) that the "Lemon Bars" sign had some writing on the back. I removed the sign, turned it over, and read: "barras de limón."
Isn't it interesting that 684 miles (1,100 kilometers) from the nearest Spanish-speaking country a restaurant would post signage for their customers in English but for their employees in Spanish (particularly given the federal requirements for only hiring 'documented' workers?)
Note: As I observed, I posted this quite some time after having read it. The back of the sign might not have said "barras de limón" ... that was just the translation of "Lemon Bars" I got from some online translation site. The spirit of the post is accurate, however.
